FICTION WORKSHOP: Where to Begin...and How to Continue

AnicaMroseRissi_PhotoByKimIndresano.jpg

For writers with readers of all ages, this workshop will focus on crafting a strong beginning (how to get yourself started and how to hook a reader, both), strategies for plotting and pantsing, and how to actually write the darn thing--including prewriting time spent building sturdy scaffolding that will help you get through a first draft.

Anica Mrose Rissi is the award-winning author of more than a dozen books for kids and teens, including the picture book Love, Sophia on the Moon, the YA novel Nobody Knows But You, and the middle-grade collection Hide and Don't Seek: And Other Very Scary Stories. Her essays have been published by The Writer and the New York Times, and she plays fiddle in and writes lyrics for the band Owen Lake and the Tragic Loves. Anica grew up on Deer Isle and returns often with her very good dog, Arugula. Learn more at anicarissi.com and follow @anicarissi on Instagram and Twitter.
